47 Hallow Lane

A true account, transcribed from the journal of E.M., found in the house after the fire of 1973.

⚠ This experience contains sound and sudden imagery. Headphones recommended. Not for the faint of heart.

dark hallway

The hallway, as E.M. described it. Photographed 1971.

The knocking began on the third night.

Three knocks. Always three. Always at 3:14 in the morning — the hour, the parish priest said, when the door between worlds stands ajar.

E.M. recorded the sound. The tape still exists. On it, between the second and third knock, you can hear breathing.

Not from outside the door.

From inside the room.

E.M. stopped sleeping. The journal entries grew shorter. On the seventh night she wrote only one line:

"It doesn't want in. It wants me to look."

So I looked.
